Children & Teen Therapy
Growing up comes with challenges, and sometimes children and teens need a space of their own to make sense of what they are feeling and experiencing. Therapy provides a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they can feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves.
Because children and teenagers don’t always communicate their emotions through words, therapy is adapted to each child’s age, personality, and needs. Sessions may include conversation, creative activities, play-therapy interventions, mindfulness, and practical strategies to help them understand and express emotions, develop coping skills, improve self-esteem, and navigate challenges at home, at school, and in relationships.
Therapy can support children and teens experiencing anxiety, ADHD, depression, difficulty regulating emotions, behavioral concerns, low self-esteem, social or relationship difficulties, and life transitions. The goal is not simply to change a behavior, but to understand what may be happening underneath it and help your child develop healthier ways to communicate, cope, and respond.
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the process. Depending on your child’s age and individual needs, I collaborate with parents to better understand concerns, provide guidance, and help reinforce progress outside of therapy — while also respecting the child or teen’s need for a trusting and confidential therapeutic relationship.
The goal is to help your child feel understood and supported while building the emotional skills, confidence, and resilience they can carry with them as they grow.
